High-Risk Pregnancy Center

At the Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy Center, we specialize in the early detection and treatment of conditions that are threatening to your unborn baby, allowing critical decisions and preparations to be made that can result in better outcomes for children with serious medical conditions.

What is a high-risk pregnancy?

Many factors influence the level of risk and complication in a pregnancy. These may include your age, medical history and the way your body responds to being pregnant — as well as how your baby develops and what issues are identified during routine exams and ultrasounds.

You're in good hands

While it's not easy to hear your pregnancy requires next-level care, please rest assured you're stepping through the doors of a therapy center equipped to take the best possible care of you and your unborn child.

Whether you travel across town or across the country to reach the Fetal Diagnosis & Therapy Center at Wolfson, our team is prepared to support you every step of the way, from initial consultation through whatever needs your child has through infancy and beyond.

The best place to deliver your baby

Wolfson Children’s is part of the Baptist Health family, the most experienced in delivering babies in the region. Delivering at Baptist Health means you’re right down the hall from Wolfson Children’s and the Level IV NICU. It’s the ideal place to deliver your baby during a high-risk pregnancy.

If delivery at your home-hospital is an option, we will discuss what the remainder of your pregnancy will be like, including potential bed rest restrictions; delivery planning; and the impact on future pregnancies. You will receive detailed patient education materials and are encouraged to call our team at any time with questions. After your evaluation, we will contact your referring physician to go over our complete findings and recommendations.

What To Expect

Referral process

Our team is here to answer your questions and provide information and support you in any way we can. Wolfson collaborates with insurance companies and other payers, to ensure you and your baby have access to the most appropriate treatment. Our staff will gather your initial information and we will ask that your medical records be forwarded to us. Additional testing may be required. One of our seven maternal-fetal medicine specialists (perinatologists) will review your medical information. Following review, we will contact you with the recommendations from our specialists and set up the consultation process.

In some cases, a family coming from afar may need to temporarily relocate to Jacksonville to undergo evaluation and care. If you are traveling to Jacksonville from out of town, we can help with arrangements and accommodations. There are many options for you and your family, whether you are here for an evaluation or need to relocate for a longer period.

Our Out-of Town Packet and Visitor Guide includes local directions, maps, air travel information, accommodations, and other services. Ronald McDonald House is located nearby.
